Compass Point Quilts & CPQ Studio has grown organically over the past fifteen years. Originally a teaching studio, where Lisa taught both Quiltworx (Judy Niemeyer) and BeColourful (Jacqueline de Jonge) patterns, CPQ has grown into a full service quilt shop which specializes in batik fabrics. We currently have over 3,000 bolts of batik fabric and are continually adding new collections to our inventory. Many people that visit our shop say we have one of the largest collections of batiks in New England.
Since becoming a shop six years ago, we offer a large variety of patterns (both traditionally pieced and paper pieced), notions, pre-cuts, kits, and classes. We have also added a dedicated classroom where we teach, both in-house and via Zoom. This includes everything from the amazing BeColourful and Quiltworx techniques to traditional quilting and piecing, both beginner and advanced, Studio 180 patterns, McKenna Ryan raw edge applique, and occasionally bags.
In addition to Lisa, who is an Authorized Teacher for BeColourful and a Certified Instructor for Quiltworx, we have several other amazing teachers that round out our offerings. Our Zoom classes are very unique in that they are held in conjunction with our live in-house classes. This type of merged class gives our at home students the feeling of being right in the classroom with everyone else. We limit the number of students on Zoom allowing everyone to feel like they have the ability to ask specific questions or ask for assistance.
Our shop is also a Certified Shop for Quiltworx and a Premier Shop for BeColourful. We have two dedicated rooms in the shop for each of these designers/companies. We always have their latest batik collections and their newest patterns in stock. In addition to carrying Anthology batiks (BeColourful) and Timeless Treasures batiks (Quiltworx) we also carry Island Batik, Robert Kaufman, Hoffman, Banyan Batiks, Mira, and Batik Textiles to name just a few. We also love to bring in complete fabric collections along with their coordinating pre-cuts to round out the groupings.
Lisa’s love for quilting and her easy going, friendly personality is reflected in the amazing people who choose to spend time sewing in the shop. If it is at a Sit ‘n Sew on a Saturday, a Quilt ‘til You Wilt on a Friday evening, a Teach Me Tuesday, or at one of our many events and classes. She has the depth and breadth of quilting experience to make beginning quilters feel comfortable and to bring experienced quilters further along in their quilting journey.
