Doris Rice – Cactus Queen Quilt Co
Doris began sewing at seven in Nevada, Missouri. Upon working at a local fabric store, her love of quilting developed, and she began teaching technique classes and workshops. She bought her first longarm machine in 1990 and after raising her family, she purchased her second longarm. Known as the Quilting Queen, she has expanded to pattern design, opened Queen’s Rustic Retreat for crafting getaways, and took over X-Blocks rulers and templates. She realized her dream to open a brick-and-mortar store, Cactus Queen Quilt Co – a full-service quilt shop – in 2018. Now based in San Antonio, Texas, Doris continues to teach and inspire others with her work and expertise.
Timothy Payne – Quilters Haven & Unique Michigan Gift Shop
Timothy Payne is a photographer and graphic designer. In 2020, he co-founded Quilters Haven & Unique Michigan Gifts in South Haven, Michigan, with his business partner, a longarm quilter named Robin Ellison. Together, they learned the fabric side of the business. Shortly after opening the store, they invested in a copy of EQ8 and the quilt design bug bit both of them. Timothy has also designed fabric for both QT Fabrics and Windham. “Life is good…but more often it is great!”

Phyllis Fay – Tucker University
Phyllis is a co-author of Tucker University, along with her business partner, Beth Sidley. The Tucker University BOM programs are extremely popular and have been crafted to allow quilters to build their piecing and design skills.
Susan Cook – Larkspur Lane Designs
Susan has been quilting since 2000. Early on, she took a foundation paper piecing class and fell in love with the technique. Soon afterward, she designed her first quilt and was pleasantly surprised when people began asking for the pattern. Since then, her designs have been published in more than a dozen magazines, including two appearances in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks by Today’s Top Designers. Six of her designs have been included in the most recent Island Batik catalogs. Susan loves working with brand new fabric designs!
Andrea Graham – Sew Far North Quilting Studio

As she outgrew the space, she relocated to Main Street, where her shop now offers a variety of fabrics, notions, Brother sewing machines, Accuquilt products, and long-arm services. Andrea enjoys designing patterns and sharing her knowledge. Visit her at 106 Main St. or online.
